What Does 1 Chronicles 16:10 Mean?

Glory in His holy name; Let the heart of those who seek the LORD be glad.

1 Chronicles 16:10(NASB)

Verse of the Day

The Lord is glorified in the praise and worship of His people, and what joy and rejoicing there was on this momentous day of great gladness in the city of the God when the Ark of the Covenant was finally brought back into the midst of His people, after decades of absence.

During Israel's long spiritual decline, the commands of God had been set aside, and for the last twenty years of king Saul's reign, the ark had been all but forgotten and remained tucked away, quietly waiting for its eventual restoration in the little home of Abinadab.

But finally the Ark was returned amidst great rejoicing, and we read that king David danced with joy before the Lord and assigned Asaph and his relatives to give thanks to the LORD: "Oh give thanks to the LORD, call upon His name; Make known His deeds among the peoples. Sing to Him, sing praises to Him; tell of all His wondrous works! Glory in His holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice!"

We read in Jeremiah that the day is coming when the Ark of the Covenant of the LORD will no longer come to mind. It will not be missed, nor will they remember it any more, for a greater than David will return to the city of God and dance before the Lord. A greater than Solomon will be forever seated on king David's throne and there will be great joy and much rejoicing: "For the earth will be filled with the glory of God as the waters cover the sea."

"Oh! Give thanks to the LORD, call upon His name; Make known His deeds among the peoples. Sing to Him, sing praises to Him; tell of all His wondrous works! Glory in His holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice!"

And all the people said, "AMEN!!"

My Prayer

Heavenly Father, how I rejoice in You, for You are good and Your grace and mercy endure forever. I give thanks to You and glory in Your holy name, for Your glory reaches to the heavens. Lord, my heart is filled with great gladness and joy when I rejoice over You. Thank You for sending Jesus to pay the price for my sins. Thank You that He is with me every moment of the day, and thank You that He is coming again with great glory and majesty. I worship and praise Your holy name for all Your goodness to all men. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.
