The first Adam sinned, and we discover that death came into the world by sin. Spiritual death descended on mankind the moment that Adam sinned, triggering a slow and sad deterioration towards physical death for every man.

Every man born of woman and every woman born of man's seed, is dead in trespasses and sins, for the entire human race is positioned IN Adam - rendering all mankind as sinners in need of a Saviour.

Adam was the federal head of the human race, and through him sin was imputed to all mankind, but God in His grace sent a second Man, the last Adam (the Son of the Father, the Lord Jesus Christ) into the world. He came to identify with His fallen creation so that by His substitutionary death and glorious Resurrection, He was able to overcome the shocking damage caused by Adam's sin and enabled to conquer of man's greatest enemy - death.

He died and rose again to become the federal head of a new race of mankind. A new creation IN Christ. Only a man without spot and blemish would be qualified to reverse the ravages of sin and its deathly consequences. Adam's action has inputed a sin nature on all who were born IN Adam (including you and me), whereas the righteousness of God is imputed to all who are born again IN Christ.

The wages of sin may be death, but the gift of God is eternal life to all who trust in His substitutionary death and glorious Resurrection: "For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive." His life imputed within, is one of the many things that takes place in the life of a Christian the moment he trusts in Christ as Saviour. He is taken out of Adam and placed IN Christ. What an incredible contrast there is between the first earthly man (Adam) and the second heavenly Man (the Lord Jesus Christ).

All that are born IN Adam are dead in their trespasses and sin, estranged from God, and without hope in the world. But in His grace, God sent His only begotten Son as the one and only sin-substitute for the entire race of fallen humanity. Those who believe in Him are redeemed. They are not condemned and are eternally positioned in Christ. But those who do NOT believe in the only begotten Son of the Father, are condemned already.

Heavenly Father, thank You that I have been taken out of Adam and placed in Christ. Thank You that in Christ I have been made alive and received His eternal life in the Person of the indwelling Holy Spirit. May I learn to live as You intended man to live, in total dependence upon You so that the life of Christ may be seen in me, to Your praise and glory. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.
