Boast no more so very proudly, Do not let arrogance come out of your mouth; For the LORD is a God of knowledge, And with Him actions are weighed

Thoughts on Today’s Verse

Hannah’s beautiful song of rejoicing not only reflects her delivery from bareness but is a trustworthy witness to the glory of God; the greatness of His power; the majesty of His name; the wonder of His love and His faithfulness towards the children of men.

Hannah’s song of praise affirms the holiness of God; exults the character of God; rejoices in the uniqueness of God and attests to His gracious wisdom – for the Lord is a God of knowledge and with Him our actions are weighed.

Hannah demonstrates an understanding of the Lord’s unfathomable omniscience.. for He knows the thoughts of the mind and examines the hidden secrets of the human heart. God sets at naught those that are proud and arrogant and destroys the wisdom of the world, but in His grace He lifts up the humble and gives mercy to those that are meek and lowly.

God weighs the very words that proceed from our mouth and examines the motives that are manufactured within our heart, for nothing is hidden from Him. How important therefore that our speech is not boastful or proud, but seasoned with salt; full of grace and truth and glorifying to His holy name.

And how necessary that the meditation of our heart is always honouring to the Lord and that the thoughts of our mind are always acceptable in His sight – for the Lord is a God of wisdom and understanding and with Him all our actions are considered.

My Prayer

Heavenly Father, keep me from prideful thoughts and careless actions and put a guard on my lips I pray. May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer – this I ask in Jesus name, AMEN
