What Does 1 Timothy 2:5 Mean?

For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,

1 Timothy 2:5(NASB)

Verse of the Day

At the beginning of Genesis, we read how God created the heavens and the earth. Later, in the Psalms, we read that the heavens and earth declare His glory and to Him, all prayer and praise should be offered. But none can approach that awesome heavenly throne, for God is pure and righteousness, while man is intrinsically evil and permanently estranged from His presence, for all have sinned and fallen short of His glory, and all are condemned to eternal separation.

BUT praise be to God that there is one Mediator for all men and all women; the Man, Christ Jesus, indivisible and eternal, the incarnate God Who became the sacrifice to pay the price for all men and all women who would believe on His name.

God could do no more. He came in the likeness of mortal flesh, lived a humiliating life, died an obscene death, and was hated and scorned by those He came to save, all because it is not His will that any are condemned but that all come to faith in Him. What amazing grace. What astonishing, beautiful, glorious grace.

But cults and creeds, religions and denomination near and far, minimise His atoning work, deny His eternal deity, accredit others as 'co-redeemers' with Him and replace the glorious gospel of grace with another 'gospel'.

The enemy has blinded the truth to multitudes and sown lies and distortions in the minds of the masses. But the plain Word of God still shines as a light in a dark world, proclaiming the eternal truth that there is one God and one Mediator between God and man - the Man, Christ Jesus.

God Himself, in the person of Jesus Christ, became fully human, for God alone was good enough to pay the awful price for sin. Unless a perfect man from Adam's fallen race could be found to become humanity's perfect sacrifice, mankind as a race would be cursed, condemned, damned, and eternally separated from God, forever.

Praise God that there is one God and one Mediator between God and every man, woman, and child that has been born into this human race. Praise God that we can receive salvation through Him – by faith. And praise God that our Mediator can empathise with all of our weaknesses and lives to make intercession for us. And He is our Lord Jesus Christ.

"Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need."

My Prayer

Thank You, Father God, for sending Your Son to be my Redeemer and my Mediator. Thank You that through His death and Resurrection, the gulf between God and man has been forever removed for all who believe. Father, I believe in Jesus Christ, my one and only Mediator, and thank You for Jesus. In His name I pray, AMEN.
