What Does 2 Corinthians 3:18 Mean?

We all, with unveiled faces, are reflecting the glory of the Lord and are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory; this is from the Lord who is the Spirit.

2 Corinthians 3:18(HCSB)

Verse of the Day

Simply reading these inspired words of Holy Writ which are part of God's eternal love-letter to human-kind, causes us to kneel in humble reverence before the throne of grace. And it causes us to worship our Father in heaven and the Lord Jesus Christ Who shed His blood so that condemned sinners might be made perfect before His face: "And so we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory."

This incredible truth is so immense, so startling, so exciting, and so very humbling, and yet familiarity with the letter of this truth can often obscure the precious blessing it contains. And instead of meditating on the Scripture, we quickly pass by its truth or ignore the depth of the riches of the glory of God contained within its pages.

We who are God's blood-bought children, have been brought into the banqueting hall of the King. The veil that once separated us from a holy God has been torn from our faces, as we gaze with unveiled eyes at the beauty of our heavenly Kinsman-Redeemer.

The written Word of God is symbolic of a mirror that reflects, to the unveiled eyes of the Christian, the living Word of God: our Lord Jesus Christ.

As we read, mark, learn, and inwardly digest the truths contained in the pages of Holy Writ, we see Christ Jesus reflected in all His glory. As we meditate on the written Word of God's eternal love-letter to human-kind, we see the wonderful face of Jesus and we start to reflect His beauty and radiate His grace, to the glory of God.

For He is altogether lovely. This is my Beloved.

My Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your written Word and the glories it contains. Help me not to become too familiar with its truth that I become complacent. Help me to read Your Word with childlike expectation and a deep-seated sense of awe. May I increasingly see the beauty of Jesus radiating from its pages, and I pray that as I gaze on His loveliness, I too will start to be transformed from glory to glory. This I pray in Jesus' name, AMEN.
