What Does 2 Corinthians 5:15 Mean?

And He died for all so that those who live should no longer live for themselves, but for the One who died for them and was raised.

2 Corinthians 5:15(HCSB)

Verse of the Day

Christ died for ALL. No one is excluded for all have sinned and so all need a Saviour, but sadly not all will choose to accept God's free gift of salvation. Not all will make that specific response to "believe on the Lord Jesus Christ." The price for all the sins of the whole world collectively, which includes all the accumulated sin of every individual man and woman, was forgiven at Calvary. The only response required by God to be saved unto eternal life is to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. It is not God's will that any should perish, but that ALL should turn to in Christ, of their own volition.

Christ died for ALL. No one is excluded and all who DO believe on the Lord Jesus Christ are given life - a new life - a new nature - the resurrected life of Christ. All who do believe on the Son of God are made a new creation in Christ with a new life "so that those who live should no longer live for themselves, but should live for the Lord Jesus Christ, Who died for us AND WAS RAISED," and we must never under-estimate the enormity of that glorious Resurrection.

You see, without His death on the Cross, our sins would not have been atoned for and we would remain unforgiven sinners, dead in our trespasses, and separated forever from a holy God. So praise God for the atoning blood of Christ on the Cross of Calvary.

But that is not where this amazing grace ends, for if Christ had died without being resurrected, we would not have a LIVING Saviour. OH, our sins would have been forgiven at Calvary, but without a RESURRECTED Saviour, without a LIVING Saviour, death and hell would not have been conquered and we could never have been given the new resurrected LIFE of Christ.

Christ died for all, and salvation is a free gift of grace that is available to whosoever will believe on the Lord Jesus Christ as Saviour, but the gift of His resurrection life is only for those that trust in Him as Saviour. All who trust on Christ as Saviour are given His resurrection LIFE, our new life in Christ.

Surely, we who LIVE: "We who have by grace received His resurrected life," surely, we should no longer live for ourselves, but for the Lord Jesus Christ Who DIED for us and was also RAISED.

My Prayer

Loving Lord and Heavenly Father, what glories there are within the finished work of Christ. Thank You that Christ died for me, and that by believing on His saving work at Calvary, all my sins are forgiven, forever. Thank You that through Christ's Resurrection I have eternal life and His resurrected life has now become my new life in Christ. Thank You, Father, for the grace that is found in Jesus Christ, in Whose name I pray, AMEN.
