This is what I mean, brothers: the appointed time has grown very short.

“Man who is born of a woman is few of days and full of trouble. He comes out like a flower and withers; he flees like a shadow and continues not.”—And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.—For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive…. “Death is swallowed up in victory.”—If we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s.—For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

Therefore do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised. For, “Yet a little while, and the coming one will come and will not delay.”—The night is far gone; the day is at hand. So then let us cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light.—The end of all things is at hand; therefore be self-controlled and sober-minded for the sake of your prayers.

“A new name.”

And in Antioch the disciples were first called Christians.—“Let everyone who names the name of the Lord depart from iniquity.”—And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.—You were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.

But far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. For neither circumcision counts for anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creation.—Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. But sexual immorality and all impurity or covetousness must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints…. Now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light.
