And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now has He reconciled

Colossians 1-21 Reconciled To God red copy

Thoughts on Today’s Verse

The passage that precede this verse reaches to the heights of the glories of God and paints a stunning picture of who we are in Christ. We are presented with a feast of all the privileges that are ours in Christ Jesus, Who has delivered us out of the power of darkness and translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son – by grace through faith. The mountain-top experience of this glorious passage then tumbles headlong into the descriptive valley of what we use to be.. for before we were saved we were alienated from God, hostile towards His grace and truth and purveyors of all that is evil. It is not a nice reminder of our pre-salvation status, but this is the raw truth of what the sin of pride and disobedience towards our Creator God has done to humanity in general, and you and me in particular. BUT how we praise God that we who were once alienated from God and hostile towards Him in mind and deed, are now  reconciled to God, through the precious blood of Jesus Christ, our Lord.

Salvation is indeed by grace alone, through faith alone in Christ alone, but never let us ignore that tremendous price that God Himself had to pay so that you and I could be given this free gift of salvation – that cost to the Father was the death of His only begotten Son – Who became sin so that we might be forgiven and be made the righteousness of God in HIM.. Praise His holy name.

My Prayer

Father, may I never forget the tremendous and terrible price that it cost You to redeem me to Yourself. I know that there is nothing that I can add to my salvation, for it was paid in full by Jesus Christ.. the innocent Lamb of God, Who became the sacrifice for sin – so that I might be forgiven of all my sin and live eternally with You – praise His holy name, AMEN
