In the beginning God made man in His own image, but man sinned and fell into rebellion against his Creator and God's plan of redemption was set in motion. But the evil intent of man's evil heart remained evil continually, and the windows of heaven poured out the water of judgement on a God-hating, sinful world, flooding the entire earth and cleansing it of its pre-flood perversions and unspeakable violence.

The god of this world seized the reigns of his evil governance in Eden. He became the prince of this world, the prince of the power of the air, the god of the nations who continues to weaken world powers to this very day. He is that old serpent called the devil and Satan, and his evil plan to usurp the authority of the most high God continues today.

God set in motion His perfect plan to circumvent the evil manipulations of this fallen 'angel of light' who continues to deceive the nation to this present day and age. God chose for Himself ONE race of people to be His one chosen earthly inheritance. God chose Israel to be His one, lone mouthpiece to all the nations of the world.

Israel had become God's elect nation. They were singularly blessed and called to declare to the world the good news of the coming Messiah Who would save His people from their sins and offer redemption to all those who were dead in their trespasses and sins. Israel was to be a light to the Gentiles. They were to say to the prisoners, "Come out from Satan's tyrannous rule and be free from the shackles of sin." They were to beckon those who were in darkness: "Come into the light of the glorious gospel of God."

God chose the little nation of Israel to be that one nation under God - the only nation through whom God would work - in order to bring a lost world back into relationship with Himself, by faith in Him. And Israel remains to this day the one and only earthly nation who are in true, covenant relationship with God, and so we read in Exodus: "God spake all these words, saying..."

YES, God Himself pronounced the terms of His covenant with His people Israel, and the nation as a whole declared: "'All that the LORD has spoken we will do, and we will be obedient!' So Moses took the blood and sprinkled it on the people, and said, 'Behold the blood of the covenant, which the LORD has made with YOU (Israel) in accordance with all these words.'"

God's covenant with Israel was cut on Mount Sinai and remains to this day. Israel entered into a unique, covenant relationship with God. Despite her disobedience, and despite being set aside for a season (during this Church age), Israel is still one nation under God, the only nation with whom God has ever had a true and lasting covenant relationship.

As members of Christ's Body, we have been made ministers of the new and better covenant which was promised to Israel. That same covenant was cut at Calvary and it will one day be ratified when Israel cries out to God: "Blessed is He that comes in the name of the Lord."

God spoke the world into being in the beginning, and later "God spake all these words" to Israel, and entered into the special covenant relationship with His singular covenant people, when they accepted God's spoken terms on Sinai, so long ago.

And God has recorded His God-breathed Word in the Scriptures. Let us study to show ourselves approved unto God. Let us rightly divide the Word of truth. Let us resist the devil and all his evil manipulations, and let us listen to His Voice and trust His Word.

My Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word of truth. Give me deeper understanding of Your plans for Israel and Your purposes for the Church. May I study to show myself approved unto God. I pray Your Word would dwell in my heart richly, by faith, with all wisdom and understanding. In Jesus' name, AMEN.
