What Does Exodus 33:18 Mean?

Then Moses said, "I pray You, show me Your glory!"

Exodus 33:18(NASB)

Verse of the Day

There is a deep craving and an insatiable hunger in the heart of all men for God. Many suppress their desire, ignore their hunger, or even deny this deep-seated need, but it will remain in the heart of all men throughout their life, for God has set eternity within the heart of humanity.

Moses was a man that recognised his own insatiable desire to know his Creator God and in humble acknowledgement of God's almighty mercy and great grace, he boldly beseeched the Lord, imploring Him: "Show me Your glory, I pray."

If Moses and the children of Israel had received from the Lord what they truly deserved, they would have been scattered and destroyed in the wilderness forever, but God is gracious and merciful, long-suffering, and of great goodness.

And if you and I received from the Lord what we truly deserve, we too would never gain access to the throne-room of grace and have a vision of the glory of the Lord. But God in His loving-kindness and gracious mercy sent His only begotten Son to come to earth to die in our place so that we might come boldly into the presence of the Lord to find mercy in time of need and gain immediate and intimate access into the heart of the Father, forever.

But it is only by faith in Christ that this glorious privilege is granted to man, and it is only as we come to know Him more and more that we increasingly glimpse of His great glory and grace.

We have been told that it is the chief end of man to glorify God and enjoy Him forever and this is only achieved as we draw ever closer to Him, day by day.

My Prayer

Draw me nearer into Your heart of love, Lord. I pray that I may know You as I am known. In Jesus' name, AMEN.
