What Does Galatians 6:7 Mean?

Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap.

Verse of the Day

As born again believers, there are well over two hundred privileges that we have been given because we are children of God and members of Christ's Body. We have received a free and full salvation and have been quickened and made alive, by faith in Christ.

We have been washed of our filthiness, forgiven of our sin, and will one day walk in white. We have been redeemed through His blood, redeemed from the curse of the law, redeemed from all iniquity, and bought with a price - the precious blood of Jesus Christ, God's only begotten Son.

We have been renewed by the Spirit of God and received every spiritual blessing, in Christ. We have an inheritance reserved for us in heaven and have been sealed by the Spirit of God Who permanently indwells our mortal bodies - and the law of the Spirit of life has set us free from the law of sin and death.

As born again believers, we have been saved by God's grace. Our salvation has nothing to do with what we have done, but it has everything to do with what Christ had done on our account - therefore the desire of our hearts should be to do only those things that are pleasing in the sight of God and to live godly lives, in Christ Jesus.

But not all believers choose the spiritual way of life. There are those that live a carnal Christian lifestyle which mirrors the ways of the world, dishonours the Lord, and removes them from enjoying sweet fellowship with the Father which is another privilege that is ours, in Christ.

The outworking of the new life that we received by faith in Christ, is set out clearly in the Word of God. We are to consider the needs of others in the spirit of gentleness. We are to resist temptation and walk in spirit and truth. We are to bear one another's burdens and thereby fulfil the law of Christ - and we are to examine our own lives to see if we are honouring the Lord Jesus Who died that we might live.

There are those that delude themselves into thinking that God does not know the carnal desires of their hearts or the ungodly imaginations that are carried out in the shadows of their mind - but Paul makes it very clear that God is not mocked by our ungodly ways and secret sins.

God had set a principle of sowing and reaping, such that each of us reaps a harvest of what we have sown in our lives. Whatever we choose to sow in our lives, whether for good or for evil, will bring forth the fruit of that choice.

When we neglect our duty as God's children and fail to carry out His will in our lives, we will bring forth the fruit of that neglect. But those that sow the seeds of righteousness will bring forth a righteous reward.

Those that sow sparingly will reap a meagre reward, while those that sow abundantly will bring forth plentifully - some thirtyfold, some sixtyfold, and some even a hundredfold. Although this is a divine principle which is true in the lives of sinner and saint alike, this particular passage is speaking directly to those that are saved by grace through faith in Christ, and we would do well to pay heed to Paul's instructions on godly living.

May we learn the lesson of sowing and reaping in our lives and do all to the glory of God - for God is not mocked by His children who choose to ignore or neglect His will. The Lord will not allow His name to be disdained or trifled with by those that ignore His Word and His will.. or by those that set aside His precepts and principles.

My Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for this principle of sowing and reaping. I pray that I may develop a giving heart and a generous spirit so that all I say brings honour to Your name. May all I do be for the glory of God and for the good of others. In Jesus' name, AMEN.
