Then God said, “Let there be light” – and there was light

-Genesis 1:3 (NASB)

√Genesis 1 let there be light

Thoughts on Today’s Verse

In the beginning God spoke creation into being. God created Ex nihilo. God spoke and light appeared. By the power of His Word – land, air and sea were formed out of nothing. There is power; wonder working power in the wonderful Word of God.

In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and He was God. He created all things and the Word was light. He was the light that lightens every man that comes into the world. There is light and life and power – wonder working light and life and power in the wonderful Word of God

In the physical creation that fell and in the spiritual creation in Christ the first Word that God speaks into the darkness is LIGHT. In the old realm, the breath of the Spirit hovered over the face of the darkness as He breathed the Word of light into the thick blackness of a waiting world. And in the new creation in Christ it is the same miraculous move of the Spirit that dispels the deep, dark blackness of sin and death and floods the soul, that has lain dead in trespasses and sins with His wonderful Word of Light.

We who are born of the Spirit do not belong to the night or darkness, but are children of the light. Let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober. We who are sealed by Spirit of God are children of light for God spoke the Word of light into our darkened lives. Let us live as children of light for the fruit of His light consists of all that is good and gracious, righteous and true.

My Prayer

Loving Father, You are the Father of light and I thank You that I am Your child. Help me always to walk in the light of Your truth, live in the light of Your love and reflect the Light of the lovely Lord Jesus, in Whose name I pray, AMEN
