What Does Genesis 1:31 Mean?

God saw all that He had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.

Genesis 1:31(NASB)

Verse of the Day

The first glorious chapter in Genesis is the foundation of Biblical truth. The plain reading of God's Word should forever silence the ignorant voices of humanistic philosophers; liberal theologians and false religious systems. But the atheistic conclusions of fools.. who have said in their hearts that there is no God.. and the prideful manipulations of many satanically inspired bodies, who seek to discredit all that is of God.. have targeted the foundational truth upon which the entire Scriptures rest.

But in the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. He could have created it in the twinkling of an eye or He could have fashioned it in whatever way He chose BUT in His wisdom God created the world and all that was in it over a period of six days and left us a written record of all that He did. And once His creation was finally completed on the sixth day - God looked at all that He had made.. and behold it was very good - and that was the evening and the morning of the sixth day.

The Tri-unity of the Godhead is glimpsed throughout this first, foundational chapter - as God said let Us make man in Our own image and yet the singularity of the One and only God of heaven and earth is captured.. for we read that God saw all that He had made-and indeed it was very good.

The presence of the pre-incarnate Christ is clearly seen for the same eternal Word was made flesh and dwelt among us and many beheld His glory - for in Him and by Him and through Him were all things made, and without Him was not anything made that was made in those astonishing six days of creation - when God saw all that He had made, and behold, it was good - very good.

And although God rested on the seventh day, God knew in His omniscience that man would sin and in the eternal council chambers of the triune Godhead had already determined to rescue fallen humanity from the curse of sin and death.. that He knew would result from man's disobedience and rebellion.

Indeed God loved the world so much, that He gave His only begotten Son, so that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. In His goodness and grace God did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, so that by grace through faith in His sacrificial work on Calvary we would be reconciled back to God and become eternal beneficiaries of His unfathomable goodness and grace.

The work of the creation may have been completed on the sixth day for we read that God rested on the seventh day, but a far, FAR greater work of the triune Godhead immediately began the moment man sinned in that good and perfect place - and that redemptive work continues today.. as sinners who are convicted of sin and righteousness and judgement are saved by grace through faith in Christ's finished work on Calvary.

The whole creation was tainted with sin that day when man sinned in the idyllic garden of Eden, and creation continues to groan in travail as it eagerly awaits the glorious liberty of the children of God.. and the ultimate revealing of the sons of God - i.e. the Body of Christ, which is the Church, when Christ returns to rule and reign and have dominion over the earth.. as God initially intended - when man was created in His own image, on the sixth day.

My Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word of truth and for giving me a clear understating of the Biblical foundation of the creation of the world, through a plain reading of Genesis. We pray for those that have been blinded to the truth by the enemy of our soul.. and pray that in Your goodness and grace, many will recognise the error of humanistic philosophies; liberal theology and false religious systems and be convicted of sin and righteousness and judgement so that together with us they may be saved by grace through faith in Christ - to His honour and glory, AMEN.
