God’s Firm Resolve
(study – 18)
Without security and assurance of salvation – there is no stability in a believer’s life,
Without total confidence in God’s love – there’s little peace or solidity in a believer’s life,
It all rests on the Grace of God – and it’s all gained by means of faith in Him.
It is an established fact in Scripture that each person of the Trinity desires to save.
Romans chapter 8 verse 28 is not a pathetic apology – but an indisputable fact :-
For we KNOW that all things work together for good,
-to them that love God,
-to them who are the called according to [His] purpose-His (prothesis) Rom8:28
This is No speculation or little vague hope -
This is No theory, No rationalization
This is Indisputable Fact –
This is Absolute Assurance –
This is God’s Firm Resolve
It is time we started to read scripture – with the Faith of those listed in Hebrews 11,
We may only see happenings in the physical – but God is working in all things.
For Faith is the substance of things hoped for,
Faith is the evidence of things not seen. Heb.11:1
Faith is an inner confidence and conviction about future things,
– an inner confidence and conviction about things which are invisible.
It is confidence that all God says is actual reality –
– Even When We Can’t See It.
It’s confidence and conviction that even if visible reality is falling to pieces around us,
God can be trusted in all things – and good for His children is His Firm Resolve.
– good for His children is God’s (prothesis).
God has a purpose (prothesis) which means PLAN = PURPOSE = RESOLVE = WILL
God’s Purpose and His Resolve can Never Ever Fail -
We have Absolute Assurance in God’s Unfailing Word.
My resolves and your promises may fail – for we are human – we are not infallible,
But when God resolves to do something – it will happen without fail:-
God made a Promise to Abraham,
- and because He Could Swear By No Greater, He Swore By Himself. Gen.22:16
God’s WORD is the One and only WORD that cannot be broken
God’s WORD is Sure and can be Trusted–
God’s PROMISE Cannot be broken -
God’s PLEDGE Will Never Fail
Others will fail –but God? NEVER in the eternity of eternities.
Throughout Scripture God expresses His firm resolve in the Past Tense,
– because What God resolves to His children – He WILL perform, without fail.
God’s Word is so sure – He records His Will and Purpose in the past tense –
God records His Will and Purpose – as if it has already taken place
Gods firm resolve in Romans 8 verse 28 continues in Romans 8 verse 29, where we read:
For whom God did foreknow, (this refers to ALL believers)
Those He also did predestinate…
- to be conformed to the image of his Son,
- that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.
Moreover whom He did Predestinate, them he also Called:
– and whom He Called, them He also Justified:
– and whom He Justified, them He also Glorified. Rom.8:28-29
And God expresses his Will and Purpose in the past tense…
– as if it has already taken place.
This verse relates that what God determined and resolved (past) – for his children,
This verse relates that what God determines and resolves (future) – for all who believe.
God’s firm resolve and unfailing plan is to save man -
And God knows who will believe,
He knows who will believe – before they were formed in the womb–
He knows who will believe – before the world was formed at creation.
God is the all-knowing God Who knows everything – Past Present and Future,
He knows those – who like You will hear the Gospel of salvation and believe.
And to rubber stamp His firm resolve for your ultimate good,
God Called and Chose You from before the Foundation of the World.
WHY ? – because He knew that you would believe in His Son, we read:-
God hath chosen us in Him before the foundation of the world,
that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: Eph.1:4
This one verse alone should quash all doubt of His love and firm resolve for you,
God has saved you by grace – through your having faith in His Son.
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son,
-that whosoever believeth in HIM should not perish,
-but have everlasting life. John 3:16
God saved you by grace thru faith –
He knew you were saved before the world began,
Because He knows of your Faith – you were Called and Chosen before the Creation.
The cause of our salvation is because we were called and predentinated
But you ask – WHY was I called and predestinated – I don’t understand….. Why me ?
You were Called and Predestinated – because God knows all things –
And because God knows all things – God knew that you would, one day, believe.
The CAUSE of your Salvation is because you were Called and Predestinated,
The MEANS of your Salvation is by Justification – God’s Grace thru your Faith,
The GOAL of your Salvation is Glorification – for God’s Purpose – His prothesis.
I sure cant get my head around the enormity of this statement – Can you ?
– but God’s Word is sure -
God’s Word is everlasting -
God’s Word cannot lie.
The indisputable fact is that God the Father purposed to save and bless you,
He called, chose, predestinated and justified, YOU (past) and glorified YOU (future)..
He did it for all those who love God -
- for those who are the called according to His purpose – His prothesis
If you cant get your head around this statement either – just read and believe…
For this is God’s purpose….
This is God’s “Prothesis” = His Plan = His Resolve = His Will – for you.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son,
that YOU should not perish, but have everlasting life,
There is therefore now no condemnation to YOU because you are in Christ Jesus.
And we know that all things work together for good to You,
because you love God, and you are called according to [his] purpose.
And God hath chosen you in Him before the foundation of the world,
That YOU should be holy and without blame before him in love:
For God foreknew You, and he also did predestinate YOU,
– to be conformed to the image of his Son,
– that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.(including YOU).
Moreover YOU whom He did predestinate, He also called:
and YOU whom He called, He also justified:
and YOU whom He justified, He also glorified.
What shall we then say to these things?
If God [be] for YOU, who [can be] against YOU?
Who shall separate YOU from the love of Christ?
[shall] tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine,
or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
As it is written,
For thy sake we are killed all the day long;
We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.”
Nay, in ALL these things YOU are more than conquerors,
– through Him that loved YOU.
For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life,
-nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers,
-nor things present, nor things to come,
Nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing,
-shall be able to separate YOU from the love of God,
-which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
I AM persuaded that this is God’s ‘prothesis’ = Plan = Purpose = Resolve = Will.
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for,
Faith is the evidence of things not seen.
Faith is an inner confidence and conviction about future things..
– an inner confidence and conviction about things which are invisible.
Faith is confidence that ALL God says in His Word, is actual reality –
Even When We Can’t See It.
