Jesus Christ is God's full and final revelation to man, and Hebrews lays enormous emphasis on the superiority of Christ in every aspect of His being. His throne has been established in heavenly places, and righteousness and truth is the foundation upon which His everlasting kingdom of grace will stand.

He is proclaimed to be the eternal Creator, and great emphasis is laid on His sovereign Deity, while His supreme rulership and unsurpassed authority is vehemently proclaimed to transcend all thrones, dominions, powers, and angelic beings, and every name that is named - in heaven, on earth, and under the earth.

Jesus Christ is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever, and through Him all the families of the earth are blessed.

But God's redemption plan was extended to humanity alone, and not to angels. God's plan of salvation was only offered to the fallen race of mankind, and God Himself in the Person of Jesus Christ became our Kinsman-Redeemer so that we might be redeemed through His precious blood.

Hebrews was written at a time when an unhealthy and ungodly fascination with angels had pervaded society, and this obsession with spiritual entities has become the prevalent mindset in our world today. Because of this, a significant portion of Hebrews is designed to expose this error and secure Christ in His rightful position as Heir of all things - through whom also God made the universe.

In quoting Psalm 45, we discover that it is the heavenly throne of JESUS that has been established. It is the eternal sovereignty of JESUS that is being proclaimed. The unique sceptre of righteousness is held in the hands of JESUS, and the eternal kingdom of JESUS will one day be set up - when Christ is all in all.

And so, through the authority of the God-breathed Scriptures we hear through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, that angels are messengers in the service of their creator God: "But of the Son - Jesus Christ our Lord - God says, 'Your throne, O God, is forever and ever, the sceptre of uprightness is the sceptre of Your kingdom.'"

Heavenly Father, how can it be that You would love the fallen race of rebellious man so much that You sent Your only begotten Son to be made sin for us so that in Him, we might be made the righteousness of God. I praise You that the sceptre of righteousness is in His hand and that one day He will set up His everlasting kingdom of righteousness. In Jesus' name, AMEN.
