What Does Hebrews 9:24 Mean?

For Christ did not enter a holy place made with hands, a mere copy of the true one, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us;

Hebrews 9:24(NASB)

Verse of the Day

The disciples witnessed Jesus ascending into heaven, and were told He will one day return from heaven in like manner. Today, He is seated on God's throne in heaven, while at the same time, is present with us. As such, our Lord has two different functions in our lives, and two distinct relationships with His children.

His earthy role gives us comfort and help in time of need, as He carries our burdens and calms our troubled souls. But His heavenly role is that of advocate, intercessor, and great High Priest after the order of Melchizedek.

Having become the perfect sacrifice for our sins, He has now become our empathetic High Priest, and is continuously representing us before the Father, and He always will.

Before the Cross, Israel was required to offer sacrifices to God in a copy of the heavenly sanctuary, but following His victory on the Cross, the veil of the temple was rent in two, removing the sin barrier between God and us forever.

Christ's sacrifice on the Cross has become the one and only perfect sacrifice, fully satisfying the judgement of God on our behalf through the shedding of His blood.

He put away our sin forever, entered into heaven on our behalf, and remains there, ministering in the heavenly sanctuary as our great high Priest and our righteous Advocate, as He prevails in prayer as our heavenly Intercessor.

My Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You that Jesus is with me always to comfort and help me. But thank You also that He is my heavenly advocate, and that having finished His work of salvation on my behalf, is now interceding in the heavenly sanctuary for me. All praise to His holy name, AMEN.
