What Does John 17:22 Mean?

"The glory which You have given Me I have given to them, that they may be one, just as We are one;

John 17:22(NASB)

Verse of the Day

The glory of Christ in His humanity is the glory that is given to those that have come into union with Christ as Saviour, for we are being conformed into His likeness day by day, as we submit to the leading and guiding of the indwelling Holy Spirit, and one day we will be exactly like Him, for we shall see Him as He is, in His glorified body, full of grace and truth.

The unity of spirit, soul, and body that Christ in His humanity had with His Father in heaven, is His prayer for each of His children too. The supernatural love and intimate communion that Christ demonstrated and enjoyed with His Father in His humanity, is the depth of love and fellowship that He desires to have with each of His own.

We are to be deeply in love with our Lord Jesus in principle and in purpose, in thought, word, and deed, just as He was with His own Father when He walked the dusty roads of Israel, for He did only those things that He heard from His Father and His prayer was always, "Your will be done so that You may be glorified."

But not only does He desire a vertical oneness of each of His children with Himself, but He also yearns that we have a horizontal oneness with our brothers and sisters in the Body of Christ; that we become one in principle and purpose, one in thought and word and deed, one in faith and doctrine, one in love and hope. He desires that individually and collectively the Church of God, which is His Body, demonstrates the glory of the indwelling Spirit of Christ by means of an outward demonstration of a holy character and a godly life, full of grace and truth.

My Prayer

Loving Father, thank You for covering me with Your righteousness and giving me the Holy Spirit to guide me into all truth and to teach me live godly in Christ Jesus. Keep me, I pray, in sweet communion with Yourself. Keep me united in fellowship with the Spirit so that I may be bound together in unity with the body of Christ day by day, in the bond of peace and in godly fellowship. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.
