The Lord Jesus is the perfect manifestation of the grace of God, and on one specific day in the little synagogue at Nazareth He stood up to proclaim His revolutionary mission: that He was the promised Messiah of Israel and that He had come from God to address the enormous humanitarian problems on earth.

Jesus revealed that He would deal with poverty, sorrow, bondage, suffering, and oppression. He had come to proclaim the year of the Lord's favour. He had come to fulfil God's promise to His people, Israel.

He had come to preach the gospel to the poor, to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captive, and to set at liberty those that are oppressed. Jesus had come to set up His glorious kingdom on earth.

The reason for Christ's first coming was to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord's favour. But Israel rejected their King, and for 2000 years this age of grace has been an acceptable year of the Lord, the day of salvation, the dispensation of grace.

But the day is fast approaching when judgement will be meted out to a Christ-rejecting sinful world.

Let us live godly in Christ Jesus, as we look for His any day return in the clouds.

My Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank you for this glorious dispensation of grace. Thank You for saving me. Help me to live godly in Christ Jesus as I look for Your any day return. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.
