He is not here; He has risen, just as He said. Come and see the place where He lay

-Matthew 28:6 (NIV)

Thoughts on Today’s Verse

The fact of history is that Christ is risen. Christianity is an historical religion; it is the cross of history which saves. There was a literal blood stained cross on a hill called Calvary. There was a literal tomb where the body was laid. And there was a literal empty grave where Christ once laid. For now He is risen. And the risen Christ has the power to save to the uttermost those who come to Him. Resurrection means to rise from the dead, never to die again. Death has no more dominion over Christ. This resurrection is what we put our faith in. And those who have trusted Christ have been placed in the risen Christ, placed there forever. Have this confidence today.

My Prayer

Dear Father, thank You for seeing past the evil of death, and bringing forth resurrection. Thank You that we no longer need to fear death. Thank You for placing us in Christ. Show us more of Him, the fellowship of His sufferings and the power of His resurrection, as You conform us to His death. May there be less of us and more of Him today, and may Christ shine through us, when we go out into the world and meet people. Thank you Lord for today and the things which are going to happen. In Jesus name. Amen
