What Does Psalm 110:1 Mean?

The LORD says to my Lord: "Sit at My right hand Until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet."

Psalm 110:1(NASB)

Verse of the Day

Throughout Scripture, the right hand of God is the place of heavenly authority and sovereign power, and the Bible bears abundant testimony that the Lord Jesus Christ has been given this place of universal supremacy. Christ is not only above us in honour and power, but is seated on the throne of God, above the heavens, the earth, and all of God's creation, waiting for the time when every enemy is made a footstool for His feet. And the last enemy to be defeated is death.

The right hand of God was the place of honour that Christ received after He died on the Cross for our sins, rose the third day, and ascended into heaven. Christ broke Satan's power over sin and death by the sacrifice of Himself, and sat down at the right hand of God the Father. And today, He is seated on the right hand of the Father in glory, making intercession for us.

God, the Father said to the risen, ascended, glorified God, the Son: "Sit at My right hand until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet." Right now, Christ is seated at the right hand of the Almighty, waiting for the appointed time when He will leave His seat and return to earth to finally defeat His foes and set up His earthy kingdom, as Israel's long-awaited Messiah and King.

But before that awesome day we know as the Second Coming arrives, Jesus will gather His Bride in the event we know as the Rapture of the Church. The trump of God will sound, the dead in Christ shall be raised, and living and resurrected saints in Christ will be raptured into the heaven of heavens, where we shall ever be with the Lord.

What an awesome God! What a wonderful Saviour!

My Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You that Jesus is sitting at Your right hand in glory. Thank You that one day He will reign in righteousness and justice over the earth. Prepare me to be the person You would have me be, until that day when I shall meet Jesus face to face and I will be known as I am known. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.
