What Does Psalm 143:8 Mean?

Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; For in thee do I trust: Cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; For I lift up my soul unto thee.

Psalm 143:8(ASV)

Verse of the Day

Whether it was seeking refuge from His enemies, in deep repentance for His transgressions, or to worship and glorify God, the foundation upon which the prayer and praises of David rested, was the righteousness, faithfulness, and goodness of God.

David learned many things about the Lord in his life-time, and one important lesson was that no matter how dark the night of doubt and sorrow, how mountainous the problems he had to face, or how fierce the enemy that stalks our path, God is our help and strength, and He is our shield and buckler.

The Lord is our Shepherd, and He is the shelter from the storm. He is the one that loves with an everlasting love, and He is a friend that sticks closer than a brother. The loving-kindness of the Lord never fails, and the grace and mercy of our Heavenly Father gives unlimited supply.

Like David, we must trust in our Father and never doubt His loving-kindness which is new every morning. Like David, we should cry out to our Heavenly Father to teach us the way in which we should walk, for God is the lifter up of our souls.

But how can God teach us His ways so that we walk in His ways? Well, God has laid out His plans and purposes for us in His Word, and the Bible should be the immovable foundation upon which our trust in God is founded.

He clearly lays out the path that we are to follow and we should read, mark, learn, and inwardly digest the Word of God with an undivided heart so that in the power of the Holy Spirit, we may grow in grace and in a knowledge of the Lord Jesus. For this is the will of God in each of our lives, that we should know God and Jesus Christ Whom He has sent.

My Prayer

Heavenly Father, I pray that I may know more of Jesus so that I may understand Your way and Your will for my life. Thank You that Your loving-kindness is new every morning and that Your grace is sufficient, and thank You that in Christ, I am enabled to walk in the way that You would have me go. May I lift my soul to Him, submit my life to Him, and follow His leading always. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.
