I will go in the strength of the Lord GOD: I will make mention of your righteousness, even of your only.

Thoughts on Today’s Verse

This ageing Psalmist stands witness to the singular righteousness of the Lord God, for He  is also this elderly writer’s strength.. his stronghold and his stay.

Despite the obvious trials and tribulations that are engulfing this old man, in so many ways, he testifies that the Lord has been his continuing support from birth and childhood, throughout his youth and right on into his senior years. He boldly proclaims that nothing can shake his deep trust in his Lord his God, and rejoices to make mention of God’s perfect righteousness.

This man proclaims that the Lord has been his daily support in times past, and he bears witness that throughout the twilight years of his journey through life, the Lord alone will remain his ongoing strength and everlasting song.

Tests and trials will come and go, and the duties will continue to bear down upon him, but they that wait on the Lord will have their strength renewed and their souls will be refreshed – for the Lord’s righteousness is immeasurable and His salvation lasts throughout all generations.

No matter what fears and foes are crouched at the door, and irrespective of the arrows that fly by day or the pestilence that lurks in the dusk, the righteous Lamb of God, Who was slain from the foundation of the world, is the only One that is worthy of all blessings and praise.

May we rejoice to go forward in the strength of the Lord our God, and may we always make make mention of His goodness, His grace and His eternal righteousness.

My Prayer

Thank You Father that You have been my strength in times past, and You have continued to support and strengthen me through every scene of my life. May Your name be glorified for ever and ever, for You alone are worthy of all praise, in Jesus name I pray, AMEN
