What Does Revelation 1:6 Mean?

and He has made us to be a kingdom, priests to His God and Father--to Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Revelation 1:6(NASB)

Verse of the Day

This final book of the Bible is an unveiling of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, and through its pages, the Holy Spirit gives us a peep behind the scenes of the glorified Christ in heaven and how He will complete God's plans and purposes for mankind.

Revelation is an open book for all who will read and take to heart the things that it contains. For those that walk in spirit and truth, it reveals God's hidden purpose for mankind, which is that Christ is all in all. But for those that seek to divorce the Person of Christ from the prophecies that are signified in this final book of the Bible, it becomes an enigma.

As John opens the book of Revelation with a stunning description of the role, function, purpose, and plan of the triune Godhead, we discover that God's only begotten Son is the "Alpha and Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end" of God's plan and purpose for mankind. And He alone is to be worshiped.

The Lord Jesus Christ is God's final Prophet. He is God's holy Priest after the order of Melchizedek. He is God's anointed King of kings and Lord of lords. And He died to pay the price for our sin and rose again to give us His life. And for all who have trusted in His finished work at Calvary: "We have been made kings and priests to His God and Father, to Whom be all glory and dominion forever and ever, amen."

As born-again children of God, we are set apart as a spiritual kingdom and have been redeemed by the blood of the Lamb, for we are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, and a people for His own possession - that we may proclaim the excellencies of Him Who has called us out of darkness into His marvellous light.

As royal priests we are His heavenly people, sanctified unto God to offer our souls and bodies to be a spiritual and living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto God. And this is our honourable service to our Lord and Saviour, for His unspeakable Gift.

Let us contemplate these glorious truths that are ours by grace through faith in Christ Jesus and let us conclude that He is worthy to receive all power, riches, wisdom, might, honour, glory, and blessing.

My Prayer

Heavenly Father, I am not worthy to gather up the crumbs under Your table and yet you have chosen me to be part of Your heavenly kingdom. Thank You that I am in Christ and have become part of His Body, which is the Church. Thank You that, together with all believers, I have been sanctified unto God, chosen to become a royal priesthood, a holy nation, and a people for His own possession. Lord, I offer my body, my life, myself, my all, to be a living sacrifice to You. May I live to Your praise and glory from this day forward. In Jesus' name, AMEN.
