What Does Revelation 19:11 Mean?

And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and He who sat on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and wages war.

Revelation 19:11(NASB)

Verse of the Day

The second coming of Christ was foretold in the old and new testaments. It is that future occasion when Christ intervenes at the end of that terrible time of Jacob's trouble when He will return in power and great glory to set up His long awaited kingdom on earth, and bring in a time of peace and prosperity for all.

His disciples longed to know what would be the the sign of His coming, the end of the age and the start of His kingdom rule on earth. They longed for Him to break the cruel bondage that they were under and to set up His kingdom on earth - but were told that it was not for them to know the times or the seasons, which the Father has set by His own authority.

However as the aged apostle John neared the end of his earthly life, he was given an amazing vision of that terrible future time, which will culminate with the heavens being opened: and behold, a white horse, and He who sat on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and wages war.

The Rider of the white horse is the same risen, ascended and glorified Son of Man Who was standing amidst the seven candlesticks at the start of his prophetic, end-time vision, when John was told to write the things that were, the things that are and the things that shall be hereafter. God's plan of redemption which He purposed before the foundation of the earth was coming to its ultimate climax when Man - through Christ, would win back dominion of the earth in righteousness - for with His blood He has set us free from the power of sin and death and hell.

The name of the Rider is Faithful and True, for He is the eternal Word of God, Who became the incarnate Son of Man and for 2000 years has been seated at the right hand of the Father. He is Jesus Christ the Lord.. our risen, ascended, glorified heavenly Man. But, as recorded in Revelation.. John watched as the time arrived for Him to put all enemies under His feet and so he saw the heavens open and beheld the God-Man.. Jesus Christ the righteous, returning on a white horse in the clouds of heavenly glory - to save His people Israel from their enemies.

At His first coming The Lord Jesus rode on a lowly donkey.. in fulfilment of Bible prophecy, as a sign of His humility. At that time He offered up His life as a ransom for many.. and as many as believe in Him to them He gave power to become sons of God - even to them that believe on His name.

At His second coming He will will be sent from His Father's throne in heavenly glory. He will break through the clouds in might and majesty..  riding on a white horse as the conquering hero of all that is evil.. in order to rescue His people Israel, and set up His promised kingdom on earth - and every eye will see Him, even those that pierced Him. And His name is Faithful and True.. and he will return as the risen, ascended, glorified.. visible image of the invisible God - full of grace and truth.

He will strike the nations with His word of truth and will judge the world in righteousness and the peoples in His faithfulness - before He sets up His kingdom in Jerusalem and together with His bride, which is the Church, will rule the nations with a rod of iron.

My Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You that You have given us an understanding of Your perfect plan of redemption. Thank You that the day is coming when all Your promises to both Israel and the Church will be finally and fully fulfilled - evil will be subdued and You will rule and reign in righteousness. Praise Your holy name, AMEN
