What Does Romans 8:32 Mean?

He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things?

Romans 8:32(NASB)

Verse of the Day

In the light of the staggering truth of this magnificent verse of Scripture, we should never doubt God's depth of love towards us and the enormous gift of grace He has bestowed on all who trust in the Son of His Love: "He who did not spare His own Son but gave Him up for us all, how will He not also with Him graciously give us all things?" Amazing love! Amazing grace! Amazing truth! Amazing God!

The glory that is contained in this astonishing reality should never become so familiar to us that a Christian is not left profoundly humbled and deeply amazed when reflecting upon the reality that Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again the third day so that all who believe on Him would not perish, but have everlasting life.

This section of Scripture climbs to the pinnacle of God's redemptive plans for mankind. There is no limit to His amazing grace, no end to His unfailing love, and no boundary to His everlasting mercy, which is new every morning. Great is His faithfulness.

It was because of His love for us that God gave His only begotten Son to be the propitiation for our sin, and Paul presents us with a question: "IF God did not spare his own Son but gave Him up for us all... THEN will He not also with Him graciously give us all things?" And the answer demands a resounding, 'YES - He will!' Praise His name!

There is nothing in the vastness of the universe that compares with the length, and breadth, and depth, and height of God's free and unconditional love towards those that simply believe on the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation.

The enormity and expanse of God's abiding grace towards this race of mankind is without comparison. His precious blood was shed on the Cross to atone for the sins of many, and we who believe on His name are held fast in the hand of the Father, given eternal life, and kept eternally secure in Him, forever.

By the merit of His death, Jesus paid our debt for sin, and the wages of sin is death. YES, He died for us! He died in our place! But God did not spare His own Son, but gave Him up for love of us so that His death would pay the full price of our sin, and through His glorious Resurrection we would become a new creation in Christ; removed from the old creation in Adam, placed into the new creation in Christ, receiving newness of life in spirit, soul, and body.

Never should we allow the shadow of familiarity to lessen the lustre of this tremendous truth of Christ's sacrifice on the Cross for us. Never should we become casual about the power and great glory that is encased within the gospel of grace, which brought us out of a terrible pit and set our feet on the Rock of our salvation.

If the Father did not spare His own Son but gave Him up for us all, and if the Lord Jesus was willing to be made sin for us and to atone for our sins through His sacrificial death on the Cross, should we not trust His Word implicitly? Should we not believe that together they will give us all things, and should we not keep doubt and disinterest securely chained and banished from our conscience?

If the eternal Son of God was prepared to be born into His own creation, become our sin-Substitute through His death on the Cross, and break the power of sin and death in our lives, should we not die daily to self and live passionately for Him?

If God who did not spare His own Son but gave Him up for us all, will He not also with Him graciously give us all things?

In the light of this staggering truth, should we not praise and thank Him ceaselessly, knowing this was the first step in the journey of His everlasting grace and the first chapter in God's never-ending love story for us: "Who did not spare his own Son but gave Him up for us all."

My Prayer

Loving Father, thank You for this staggering truth, that you chose to give Your only begotten Son as the purchase price for me. Forgive me for the times when I have doubted or questioned Your love. I praise Your name for the full assurance of Your never-failing love and boundless grace, which You have poured out on me without measure. In the name of the Lord Jesus I pray, AMEN.
