What Does Romans 8:34 Mean?

who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us.

Romans 8:34(NASB)

Verse of the Day

There are so many passages in the wonderful book of Romans where we are reminded of our deliverance from bondage, our victory in Christ, and that there is absolutely no condemnation whatsoever to those that are in Christ Jesus, for every one that trusts in God's only beloved Son as Saviour, will never be condemned but receive life eternal. If only we would believe this truth to the uttermost. If only we would trust all that the Word of God says!

In this edifying and encouraging passage in Romans 8, Paul details the glories of being in Christ, the wonders that God has planned for those that love Him, and an eternal assurance that every born-again child of God will live with Him forever. But how astonishing that God in His omniscience knew which of us would one day trust in His Son as Saviour – and He knew this before we were even born! God knew that you would trust in Christ Jesus, even before you were conceived in your mother's womb!

God ordained that each sinner saved by grace is to be conformed into the likeness of the Lord Jesus and each is to be fully justified, fully sanctified, and fully glorified. AND we are reminded in many passages there is absolutely no condemnation whatsoever to those that are in Christ Jesus - Hallelujah!

Paul makes our lack of condemnation clear at the start of the chapter as he states in no uncertain terms: "Therefore there is now no condemnation at all for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death." Hallelujah! What a Saviour!

As if to emphasise this glorious truth, Paul asks a simple question: "Who is there that can condemn you?" Oh, Satan can prowl around, accusing you, casting doubts, fears, and worries in your path to try to de-rail you, but he can never ever condemn you. God cannot condemn you for you are in Christ and Christ will not condemn you, for He died for your sins so that all that believe on Him would not be condemned but have eternal life.

Let us praise His glorious name for the wonderful truth that there is no condemnation to those that are in Christ, for He has been given the highest position in heaven, where He is seated on the right hand of the Father, interceding for His children. Let us walk in the freedom that we have been given, paid for by the shed blood of our precious Saviour on Calvary's Cross. Let us begin to understand the depth of love Christ has for us as we live for Him, setting our mind on the Spirit, and being conformed into the image of the lovely Lord Jesus. Praise His wonderful name.

My Prayer

Loving Father, thank you that I am in Christ, Who died and rose from the dead to save me from my sins. Thank you that because I am in Him, I am not condemned. Sometimes I find this hard to comprehend, but thank You for the wonderful reassurances in Your Word. In Jesus' name, AMEN.
