Colossians 1:5 (HCSB)

Colossians 1-5 Hope Reserved for You in Heaven gold

Thoughts on Today’s Verse

As an outpouring of their trust in Christ Jesus as Saviour this little band of believers demonstrated a deep love for all the saints of Christ and how this rejoiced the heart of the apostle Paul, who kept this group of Christian believers continually in his prayers.

The faith of this little congregation was anchored upon the message of truth.. the good news of Christ – the gospel of the grace of God, that Christ died for our sins and rose again to secure for who believe in Him an eternal home, reserved for us in heaven.

The hope upon which their faith was founded and their love expressed, was the mystery of Christ and the Church, which is His body – which was kept hidden in ages past but now had been made known to Jew and gentile alike through the apostle Paul, which is Christ in you the hope of glory. This hope is not only reserved in heaven for these faithful, loving Colossian believers but for all who have heard and believed God’s word of truth – the gospel of the grace of God.

Praise God that we too have heard about this message of truth and placed our trust in the finished work of Christ. May our faith in Him overflow in love for our brothers and sisters in Christ – knowing that our hope in Him is reserved for us in heaven – for this is God’s message of truth to us all.

My Prayer

Thank You Lord that I have heard and responded to the gospel of grace and that by believing in Him, I have a hope reserved for me in heaven. May this blessed hope overflow in an unshakable trust in Your word of truth – and a deep love for all the body of Christ, in Whose name I pray, AMEN
